Regulations for Mountain Lodge and Campsite Applications

I. The Mountain Beidawu National Trail of the Pingtung Forest District Administration Office (Hereinafter referred to simply as ""the Office"") is located in the 30th, 31st, and 32nd forest division areas of the Pingtung operational area, and is within the range of the ""Shuangguei Lake Major Wildlife Habitat"" announced in the Wildlife Conservation Act (30th and 31st forest division of the Pingtung operational district).
 
II. The main purpose of operations is the conservation of wild animals, to maintain species diversity and natural ecological balance, and to promote mountain hiking and ecotourism. These guidelines have been formulated in order to improve the management of the Mountain Beidawu National Trail""s mountain lodge and campsite attached to this Office and lodge accommodation operations, to promote the fair use of public resources, and to reduce the impact of various activities on the trail and reduce environmental disturbances. 
 
III. Within the range of the Mountain Beidawu National Trail, camping outside designated locations is prohibited. The Kuaigu Inn and campsite have been established approximately 4.2 km into the trail and the inn has a total of 42 beds open to applications from members of the public, with 15 places (4 person camp spaces) available in the surrounding campsite, which can accommodate up to 60 people camping. In principle, accommodation for a total of 102 people per day can be provided.
 
IV. The management personnel of the mountain lodge should request that each occupant produce their ID card or other document sufficient to confirm identity. The mountain lodge and campsite accommodation are not provided for the purpose of profit, and space at the lodge may be allocated to suit actual demand, with priority being given to support rescue personnel or to shelter evacuees of emergency circumstances in order to avoid emergency hazards, and they will not be subject to the restrictions of these guidelines.
 
V. In the event of their being such management needs as forestry operations, rescue training, education and training, academic research or forestry promotion, the number of people accommodation is provided for may be reduced in advance, or accommodation reservations may be suspended temporarily.
 
VI. An Internet application approach is adopted for the use of the Mountain Beidawu National Trail""s mountain lodge and camp accommodation (Taiwan Forest Recreation site), and we do not accept telephone or on-site booking.
 
VII. The Mountain Beidawu National Trail is a restricted mountain area. Apart from needing to complete approval procedures for mountain lodge or campsite accommodation, visitors entering the important wildlife environment to engage in mountaineering activities also need to carry out application for mountain entry permits at the relevant police unit, and personnel of this Office will carry out spot checks on these at irregular intervals.
 
VIII. Applications for use of the Mountain Beidawu National Trail""s Kuaigu Inn beds or the surrounding campsite, shall be handled in accordance with the following provisions:
 
(I) For the various fee and refund regulations for the mountain lodge and campsite, please refer to the ""Pingtung Forest Administration Office""s Mountain Beidawu National Trail Mountain Lodge and Campsite Fee Standards"".
(II) When applying for bedspace or campsite space, please make your selections carefully. Applicants are not permitted to apply for both Kuaigu Inn mountain lodge and the surrounding campsite at the same time on the same day.
(III) Times open for application: applications may be made from 45 days to 8 days prior to the intended stay.
(IV) Application Method and Regulations:
 
1. People are able to apply as a team. The number of beds per team is between 2 and 10, while the number of camps spaces available per team is 2 to 4, and each team may apply for a maximum of two camp spaces.
2. Applicants for accommodation must be the person or people leading the team and be intended lodge or campsite occupants. Information about applications (such as payment, bed reservations, etc.) is only available to the applicant, and the applicant is the team leader (this is not changeable).
3. Application Method:
(1) Stage 1:
During the period open for accepting applications, please go to the website""s application form to complete the application processing.
(2) Stage 2:
The application system will take draws at 3:00 o""clock on the 30th day before the stay and the results of this will be published on our website. Bed applications which were not drawn will be put on a waiting list.
(3) Stage 3:
During the period between 7 and 29 days prior to accommodation, the system will draw lots for beds remaining vacant at 3:00 o""clock each day and publish the results on our website.
 
4. Teams that have drawn beds are requested to please complete payment within five days of receiving remittance notice. Those failing to do so will be considered abandoned, and the system will automatically cancel their eligibility.
(1) ATM and bank counter payments must be made before 3:00 o""clock.
(2) If you are notified of a successful draw seven days prior to your intended stay, the payment period deadline is in two days.
 
5. For bed numbers and campsite space locations, teams should please check with the Kuaigu Inn management on their date of stay.
 
6. After teams have made their reservation applications, they may not increase the number of occupants, if they want to increase the number of occupants, they must first cancel the original order and then re-apply.
 
7. After teams have been drawn, they may carry modifications only once. (Each modification made may be for a maximum reduction or replacement of two persons, and after reduction, the number of team members must be at least more than two). The application method is for the applicants to carry out relevant modifications on our website themselves, and complete amendments at least seven days prior to stay.
 
8. Foreign nationals must be led by local citizens to enter the Mountain Beidawu National Trail, and applications for mountain lodge or campsite accommodation must also be made by local citizens. Foreign team members must provide a contact telephone number they can be reached at during their stay in Taiwan, in order to facilitate notification and contact in the event of an emergency.
 
9. The Mountain Beidawu National Trail is rugged and is not a general hiking trail. If you wish to enter, this a mountain hiking activity with risk. In addition to accepting responsibility for the risks, applicants are also requesting to consider their own physical condition, and prepare any relevant equipment and hiking or climbing plans.
